General#
What is CaprinaeVUE?#
CaprinaeVUE is a cloud-based herd management platform for goat and sheep keepers. It tracks your animals and their pedigrees, breeding and kidding, milk tests, health records, weights, FAMACHA scores, semen inventory, tasks and reminders.
Who is it for?#
Small and mid-size goat and sheep operations: dairy herds, meat herds, show herds and family farms, with team access for family and staff.
Does it work with sheep?#
Yes. You can set an animal's species to goat, sheep or other. Some features, such as milk-test interpretation and kidding terminology, are written with goats in mind.
Can I use it on my phone?#
Yes. The site works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers, and has a phone-friendly layout with a bottom navigation bar. You need an internet connection.
Pricing and plans#
How much does it cost?#
Plans are based on the number of active animals in your herd. Every feature is included on every plan.

Animals marked Sold, Deceased or Culled do not count toward your total.
What happens if I go over my plan?#
You can't add more animals until you upgrade. Nothing you already entered is locked or removed.
Can I cancel anytime?#
Yes. Manage your plan under Settings > Plan & Billing.

What does it track?#

Does it work with ADGA?#
CaprinaeVUE stores ADGA registration numbers and pedigree information, and you can add an animal from a photo of its registration certificate. It does not connect to ADGA's systems and does not currently produce ADGA submission reports, so you export your records and submit them yourself.
Can I import DHIA results?#
Yes. Enter results by hand, or upload a lab-sheet photo or PDF and review the text it reads before importing. Reading is automatic and can make mistakes, so check the numbers.
Which breeds are supported?#
Goat and sheep breeds are available from a breed list in the app. Gestation defaults to 150 days for standard breeds and 145 for miniature breeds, and you can enter a custom length.
Can I import my existing records?#
Yes. Use Import Data with a CSV file, JSON file or photo, and you'll get a validation preview before anything is saved. Uploaded files are read and discarded; only the data you confirm is kept.
Can I export my data?#
Yes. Each report can be exported to CSV.
Getting started#
How do I sign up?#
Create an account at www.caprinaevue.com/register and verify your email address. Until your email is verified the account is read-only.
What should I do first?#
- Add your animals one at a time, or use Import Data
- Create groups (milking does, dry does, kids and so on)
- Invite team members from Settings > Team
- Start recording breedings, kiddings, milk tests and health events

Data and teams#
Can other farms see my data?#
No. Each farm's data is kept separate from every other farm's.
Can I add team members?#
Yes, from Settings > Team. Roles are Viewer (view only), Staff (add and edit records, no deleting, no settings), Admin and Owner (everything; only an Owner changes roles).
What if I stop using CaprinaeVUE?#
Export your reports to CSV first. You can also delete your farm from Settings > Danger Zone.
Is my data transmitted securely?#
Yes. The site is served over HTTPS.
